Research indicates that the correct type of resistance, or muscular, training helps maintain functional ability. HUR allows older people to exercise more safely by reducing stress on joints and connective tissues. Using air as resistance overcomes the additional effort required to lift a static weight at the beginning of an exercise and to slow it down it at the end. Maintaining a more consistent resistance profile reduces stress on vulnerable joints and connective tissues and makes the movement feel ‘smoother’ and easier to execute.
Suitable for endurance and strength training The resistance curve of HUR machines maintains its profile regardless of the speed of movement providing the benefits of both types of training. A near zero starting resistance feature facilitates ongoing and assisted mobilisation.
Easy to use To facilitate ease of use HUR equipment has few adjustments. A simple + and – button is pressed to alter resistance levels, which can be done without getting off the machine.
Non intimidating Only the person using the machine can see the resistance level.
  | Optional safety features for less mobile users These include range limiters and additional handgrips for ease of access.
